Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year—or it’s supposed to be. But if you don’t celebrate it, then you’re stuck with a world mostly shut down and seemingly nothing to do. Fortunately for you whether you’re with friends or alone you have quite a few options to make December 25th a fun day off regardless of your observances.

  1. Start by staying in pajamas, make a bag a popcorn and watch every Harry Potter Movie. *Tip start by 4am if you want to get them all in before midnight.
  2. Buy something online for yourself, something you’ve always wanted but thought was a waste of money. Then you’ll have something to look forward to after Christmas is over.
  3. Compose your own Christmas carol... Or anti-christmas carol.
  4. Cook yourself something, your all time favourite meal, enjoy it all to yourself.
  5. Bake the world's greatest chocolate chip cookies: https://www.buzzfeed.com/lindsayhunt/ultimate-chocolate-chip-cookies?utm_term=.flL5O6ldO#.esZERvpdR
  6. Come up with a list of 20 reasons why you shouldn’t celebrate Christmas.
  7. Build a Snowman OR wake up extra early and build a snowman on all your neighbor's lawns.
  8. Go to the Movies: Star Wars: the Last Jedi (out December 14), Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle (out December 20), The Greatest Showman (out December 20), Pitch Perfect 3(out December 22), Mollys Game (out December 25).
  9. Do 3 good deeds that will make you happy.
  10. Get your life together for the upcoming semester, maybe start readings early? Get organized!
  11. Give yourself the gift of silence. Block out all noises and distractions and do what matters to you the most. Or sit in silence all day, bet you’ve never done that.
  12. Go find the tallest hill in Waterloo and go sledding until you can no longer walk up the hill anymore.
  13. Take a walk in the evening to smell all the delicious food emanating from your neighborhood’s houses. Guess what they’re cooking.
  14. Do 5 things that are ridiculous to you, and see if you get any life epiphanies.
  15. Love yourself. Give yourself hugs, write yourself a poem, and compose a list of everything you love about yourself.
  16. Use the day to achieve something important. e.g. start a diary, get to level 22 on your game, solve 50 riddles.
  17. Be actively lazy, and spend the day in bed trying to lucid dream.
  18. Make your day more humorous. Watch comedy, laugh at people and yourself, and look for reasons why the things you take seriously are comedic.
  19. Buy or make something special, and put it on your neighbor’s doorstep. Knock on the door and run away.
  20. Try to set a world record, and email Guinness World Records when you achieve it.
  21. Sing karaoke to your favorite songs and dance around until you collapse from exhaustion.
  22. Hate to break it to you but, Santa, Rudolph and the elves aren’t real. But are spirits and ghosts? Spend Christmas trying to contact the spirit world by building your own Ouija board.
  23. Think about what you loved to do as a kid that you don’t do anymore, and do it. For example if it was taking bubble baths, then time to bring out the bath bombs!
  24. Figure out your New Year Eve Plans.
  25. Create a riddle, put it where someone will find it, and hide a prize. Return to the place at the end of the week to see if anyone found it.
