September is finally upon us. That means that the infamous frosh week is finally here. Filled with of course, parties, a busy downtown scene, and enough free food to feed the university population, Frosh week has something for you.
If you’re the partying type, Frosh Week is definitely your scene. Apart from the traditional house parties, which unfortunately we can’t give you much advice on, the downtown scene offers a bustling, loud and exciting atmosphere. If you’re hitting up downtown Waterloo, be sure to give the infamous ‘Phil’s Grandson's’ a shot. With the legendary nightlife scene of Waterloo at your fingertips, we can guarantee you’ll be making endless trips to Phil’s on a Friday or Saturday night.
If by chance you're slightly more reserved, both Waterloo, Laurier, and Conestoga campuses offer endless assortments of day time activities. Whether you like bouncy castles, or recreational games, head over to campus and we can guarantee there will be something for you to enjoy.
Hidden behind the curtains of the bars and clubs which dominate the downtown core, are a collection of unique, and quite frankly delicious restaurants which provide to either the drunken or casual student.
The first of which is the Pub On King. This traditional irish bar offers the usual pub-grub staples which appeal to the hundreds of students each night, while offering a collection of items with their own retro flair. If you happen to stop by, be sure to try their Buttermilk Chipotle Fried Chicken. And if the wallet is tight, all food items are priced at $5.99.
Abe Erb Waterloo is the next stop on our culinary conquest. Brewing its own beer, guests are actually situated amongst all the brewery equipment which makes for an interesting atmosphere. If you like Beer, this is definitely the place for you. With over 12 custom made beers on tap, you can sit and enjoy while you listen to their live music, or simply take in the brewery itself.
With more then 6,300 first year students in attendance, you're sure to make a few friends, learn something new and have a fantastic time. Not only will you have the opportunity to meet some of your new teachers, but there's concerts, a carnival, a mentalist and so much more.
