The annual Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest isn’t over yet, be ready for some more Bavarian mash dancing. An event that originated from the wedding celebrations of King Ludwig and of Bavaria, today is considered to be the grand Oktoberfest. North America's largest Bavarian festival hosts more than 0.7 million visitors every year.
If you still haven't experienced some Oktoberfest fun, there is still time!
2. Snap a pic with Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfests ambassadors: Tante Frieda, Onkel Hans, Ziggy unt Zaggy Steiner, or Miss Oktoberfest.
3. Of course, no festival is over without some spontaneous shopping. For some retail therapy, visit the official store at 17 Benton Street, in Kitchener for traditional Bavarian clothing as well as authentic German stein, souvenirs and much more.
4. Lastly, there's still time to check out all the different Farmers Markets across the Waterloo Region.
A “Dirndl”: Is a traditional southern Germanic and Austrian dress originating from the Alpine peasants. The dirndl is a simplified form of folk dress and consists of a blouse, bodice, apron and full skirt.
“Lederhosen”: These are knee-breeches (what we would call shorts) made of leather.
No matter what you’re wearing you’re bound to have a good time at this years Oktoberfest. There is still plenty of time to get out and experience some good ol’ fashioned Bavarian fun in the Kitchener Waterloo Region!
